Qualifying Fees for 2017 Municipal General Election


The City of Waleska has three Council Member Seats (Post 1, 2 and 3) that are up for re-election this year.  The Municipal General Election will be held November 7, 2017.  Candidate qualifying will be held beginning August 21st at 8:30 am and will end on August 25th at 4:30 pm.  The non-refundable qualifying fees have been set as follows.  For more information, please visit our website at or call the City Clerk at 770-479-2912.

                                                           Proclamation Presented


The Mayor and City Council presented a Proclamation to Ms. Gina Nelson for an act of kindness

in helping another citizen in need due to an automobile accident.  The citizen, Ms. Ola Beatrice Poole

was also presented a copy of the Proclamation.

             Cook Out for Police, Fire and EMS Personnel


The Mayor and City Council hosted a cook out on September 15th for all the Police, Fire and EMS employees in respect of 9-11. We appreciate all of these men and women who put their lives on the line each day for the safety and welfare of our citizens.

Election Certificate Presentations – R. M. Moore Elementary Students

Mayor Jones with the help of Sheriff Frank Reynolds presented certificates to twelve students that participated in a City Election at R. M. Moore Elementary School on December 14, 2016. A student from four different classes were elected to the position of Mayor, Council Member and Sheriff. The students elected from Mrs. Rogers’ class were Asa Powell-Mayor, Isabella Marsack-Council Member and Gracie Reece-Sheriff. The students in Mrs. Hefner’s class was Lyla Griffith-Mayor, Sawyer Goodrow-Council Member and Sophia Simmons-Sheriff. Students elected in Mrs. Bennett’s class were Aidan Searcy-Mayor, Brennan Wetherington-Council Member and Cray Williams-Sheriff. Students elected in Miss. Gravitt's class were Kamden Jenkins-Mayor, Chase Russell-Council Member and Rylie Geiger-Sheriff.  Mayor Jones and City Council stated this was one of their favorite meetings of the year to be included in presenting these students their election certificates.
